Chicago: During a Halloween gathering in Chicago, a horrifying incident unfolded as a gunman unleashed a barrage of gunfire, leaving over 15 individuals wounded. Among them, two victims are in critical condition, as per CNN’s report.
The victims consists of six women and nine men, with ages ranging from 26 to 53, the Chicago police reported. Chicago officers responded to a report of gunfire and found a man firing a weapon into the location where a gathering was taking place, as stated in the news release.
“The offender fled on foot and was placed into custody by responding officers a short distance away,” police said.
Subsequently, law enforcement took the suspected shooter into custody, who was allegedly in possession of a handgun. The suspect was taken in for questioning. The alleged shooter was found in possession of a handgun when he was apprehended by the police and was subsequently taken in for questioning, CNN reported, citing a news release.
In a separate incident on Sunday, one individual was killed and two injuries were reported in Laurel, Delaware, following a shooting incident. This incident followed the tragic shooting spree in Maine on October 26, which resulted in the loss of at least 18 lives and left 13 individuals wounded.
According to the Gun Violence Archive, there have been at least 566 mass shootings in the country this year, CNN reported.
