Fact Check: Italian PM Meloni’s Birthday Message Erroneously Linked to Ram Temple Inauguration In Ayodhya

Date:

A video, featuring Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni speaking in Italian, is widely shared on social media claiming that PM Meloni has purportedly released this video to extend congratulations to all Hindus on the consecration of Ram temple in Ayodhya.

The video is shared on Facebook with a caption: “इटालियन पीएम जियोर्जिया मेलोनी का राम मंदिर के लिए हिंदुओं को संदेश #RamMandirPranPratishta। अनुवाद: प्राण प्रतिष्ठा समारोह पर भारत और दुनिया भर के हिंदुओं को शुभकामनाएं। सैकड़ों वर्षों के संघर्ष के बाद अपनी प्रतिष्ठा पुनः स्थापित करके आपने दुनिया के सामने एक मिसाल कायम की है। ढेर सारा प्यार।” (English translation: See below.)

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim and found it to be FALSE.

Had Italian PM Meloni commented on Ram temple, there would have been credible news coverage globally. But we could not find any substantiated news report on this matter.

According to an Italian report, dated January 15, Meloni released this video on her birthday, thanking those who wished her on that occasion. It clarified that Meloni’s video predates the Ram temple inauguration.

Additional news reports about this video say Meloni shared the video on her X account on January 15, expressing gratitude to those who wished on her 47th birthday.

We found the same video uploaded on the official X handle of PM Meloni on January 15, 2024, with a caption: “Thank you. You are my strength”.

Thus, it is evident from the above information that the viral video is unrelated to Ram temple inauguration in Ayodhya.
