New Delhi: With a successful career spanning four decades, Bollywood’s first female superstar, Sridevi unexpectedly passed away in February 2018. Initial reports suggested a cardiac arrest, but the autopsy revealed her demise resulted from “accidental drowning” in the tub, leading to ongoing speculations and theories from fans.
In a recent development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed charges against Deepti R Pinniti, a self-styled investigator, accusing her of asserting a cover-up between India and the UAE government over Sridevi’s death using “forged” documents. Deepti, active in social media discussions, presented evidence, including letters from PM Narendra Modi and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, claiming they were produced by the UAE government.
A case has now been registered against Deepti Pinniti and her lawyer Bharath Suresh Kamath based on a complaint from lawyer Chandni Shah, referred by the PMO. The CBI alleges that the documents, including letters from the Prime Minister and Defence Minister, were “forged.” In December last year, searches at Deepti’s residence were conducted, and all her phones and laptops were seized.
“The suspect Deepti Rani Pinniti has time and again maligned the image of the present government by bizarrely accusing the government as the sponsor of the death of Sridevi…,” Shah said as reported by the PTI.
The CBI disclosed comprehensive details of the entire seizure in the report submitted to a special court. Responding to the chargesheet, Deepti claimed that the CBI did not document her statement regarding the case.
