Amid the farmers’ protest seeking Central government’s implementation and legal assurance of a minimum support price (MSP), a video has gone viral showing an effigy of Modi, adorned with shoes and attached to a tractor. In the video, a voice questions the reason behind farmers’ journey to Delhi in harsh weather conditions, to which another response in Punjabi can be heard saying, “He has snatched our bread (roti), he will take our land, we will punch Modi.”
A Facebook user posted with a caption: ” ये किसान हैं?? (English translation: “These are farmers?? The agitators are proudly presenting the photo of Khalistani Bhindranwale and are dragging it after making an effigy of PM Modi. The government should now treat these Khalistanis in the same way as it was done before.)”

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the above video, and found it to be false.
Putting the video keyframes through a Reverse Image Search, the NM team traced similar visuals on Tripadvisor. It indicates that the restaurant’s name is Sizzling Tandoori Hut located in Aurora, US.
We also observed that the telephone number on the signboard is the same as in the viral clip and geo-locate it to Aurora, Oregon, US. Also, the same blue mini tractor can be seen at the entrance of this restaurant as in the viral video.
The viral video displays identical elements that clearly indicate its origin in Oregon, thereby confirming its non-Indian source. A comparison highlighting these elements is presented below:
With a keyword search on Facebook, we found the original footage in a 2020 NDTV news report. Here, a protester is questioned by a NDTV reporter about their journey to Delhi in the cold, to which they respond, “He is snatching our bread (roti), he will take our land, we will punch Modi.”
Hence, we can conclusively say that the edited video is unrelated to the ongoing farmers’ protest, and NOT from India.
