FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the above post, and found it to be false.
At the beginning of the video, the NM team noticed a sticker on the packing paper inside, displaying a logo with a sneaker and the words “PNT BY RAY”.
Searching further, we spotted an Instagram post by PNT BY RAY — a company specialising in sneaker customisation. The post, dated March 3, 2024, features a similar shoe to the one seen in the viral clip.
The Instagram post from PNT BY RAY included the following disclaimer: “I am not affiliated with any brands represented in this picture, nor is my artwork authorised by these brands to be sold on their products. I do not sell sneakers nor purport to do so. The image shown is my personal artwork that I hand-paint on any/all products and brands requested by clients.”
They also tagged the Instagram account of Michael Dickson, executive director of the Israel branch of the U.S. non-profit StandWithUs. The original unboxing video was uploaded to Dickson’s account on March 3, 2024. Dickson shared it with the text,” 🇮🇱 🤩 Unboxing 🤩🇮🇱
The account’s bio contains a similar disclaimer stating, “I have no affiliation with the brands of objects I paint on.”
Hence, we can conclusively say that the Nike shoes seen in the video were customised by a company having no affiliation with Nike.
