A video circulating on social media allegedly shows a Muslim man demanding a woman return his money while attempting to remove a saffron flag from her home. The video also depicts another man coming to the woman’s aid, assaulting the man, and compelling him to chant a slogan in praise of Lord Hanuman. Many people claim it to be a real incident.
The video is shared on Facebook with a caption: “मुस्लिम आदमी ने फेका राम जी का झंडा। .. #हमे चहिए #हिन्दुराष्ट्र” (English version: See below.)

NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be FALSE.
With a relevant keyword search, the NM team found several Twitter accounts flagging the video as scripted. One user mentioned that all three characters in the video belong to the Hindu community, with one of them named Hemraj Thakur. Screenshots of Hemraj’s Facebook profile were also posted.
Searching for Hemraj Thakur on Facebook, we found a page named Himanshu Jatav. The URL of the page contains the username ‘iamhemraj,’ indicating that the name of the page was changed. In the introduction, the account user identifies himself as a video creator.
We skimmed through the page and found several staged videos, although none of them was viral. However, we noticed that the man who ‘protects’ the woman in the viral video features in almost all the videos. The videos also have a disclaimer stating that they are for entertainment purposes and that the characters are not real.
Additionally, we found a post on the page stating not to take his videos seriously. Most of the videos are scripted, and the same cast members appear in all of them.
Thus, it is evident from the above information that the viral video is scripted.
