NASA Calls Off The Launch Of Artemis 1 Due To Engine Malfunction

Date:

Florida: The Artemis 1 mission launch scheduled to launch on Monday from the Kennedy Space Center carrying the Orion Capsule has now been cancelled due to an engine malfunction.

NASA took to Twitter and added that “The launch of Artemis 1 is no longer happening today as teams work through an issue with an engine bleed. Teams will continue to gather data, and we will keep you posted on the timing of the next launch attempt.”

NASA in an ambitious mission will debut one of its most powerful rockets known as the Space Launch System (SLS) with the Orion spacecraft.

The mission is set to unveil the capabilities of NASA’s engineering. Artemis 1 will not carry any astronauts and neither will it land on the moon. According to reports, the travel time of the rocket is close to six weeks and will travel approximately 65,000km.

According to NASA, the primary objectives of the Artemis I flight test are to demonstrate the Orion heat shield at lunar return re-entry conditions, demonstrate operations and facilities during all mission phases, and retrieve the spacecraft after splashdown.

The statement further added that in the course of completing these goals, the team aims to successfully demonstrate the SLS rocket’s capability, carry out the mission as planned, and ensure a safe return prior to the first flight with crew on Artemis II.
