US: Indian-Origin Student Found Dead In Boston; Ninth Such Incident In 2024

New York: Another tragic incident unfolded as an Indian student, Abhijeeth Paruchuru, was found dead in Boston, US. Initial investigations have ruled out anything suspicious surrounding the circumstances of the student’s death, officials reported on Monday.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Abhijeeth Paruchuru, a 20-year-old student hailing from Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, was enrolled in an engineering program at Boston University.
  • Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) Consulate General of India in New York wrote, “Deeply saddened to learn about the unfortunate demise of Mr. Abhijeeth Paruchuru, an Indian student in Boston.”
  • The Consulate further informed that Paruchuru’s parents, who are based in Connecticut, are in direct touch with detectives. Additionally, the Consulate stated that initial investigations rule out foul play.
  • The consulate further said that it provided assistance in the documentation and transportation of Abhijeeth Paruchuru’s mortal remains to India.
  • Furthermore, officials stated that they continue to remain in touch with local authorities and the Indian-American community regarding the matter.
  • The alarming increase in such incidents has sparked significant concern within the community. Since the beginning of 2024, there have been nine reported deaths of individuals of Indian origin in the US.
