Match fixing or not? Decide for yourself

Date:

At a time when the cricket’s governing body, ICC, is making every possible attempt to track down and curb the cases of match-fixing, a video has emerged from a league match in Dubai which appears to be fixed.

A T20 clash between Dubai Stars and Sharjah Warriors in the United Arab Emirates’ Ajman All Stars League has been marred with a controversy. While there have been few big names who have been associated with the fixing scandal, the clip here shows that the players didn’t even try to make it hard for the fans and all the concerned people to doubt the fixing case, they made it so obvious.

Chasing 136 runs, the Warriors were bowled out for just 46 runs after most of their batsmen were seen deliberately throwing away their wickets through easy stumpings and pre-meditated run-outs. Efforts to return to the crease after charging the bowler were virtually non-existent, while suicidal attempts at runs and a lack of urgency and intensity raised eyebrows.

Watch the video of the match that was played at the Ajman Oval – a popular cricket ground in the country.

The league has been suspended after just two days of action.
