BMW launches adventure bikes F 750 GS, F 850 GS in India

Date:

BMW launched the new BMW F 750 GS and the BMW F 850 GS in India over the weekend. They are set at an initial price of Rs 11.95 lakh and Rs 12.95 lakh (ex-showroom, India) for the F 750 GS and F850 GS respectively.

Designed for riders who favour the sensation and conceptual design of a travel enduro in combination with a low seat height, copious power availability and powerful all-round qualities, the styling of both the motorcycles has been inspired from BMW R 1200 GS, the company’s flagship adventure tourer bike.

Both motorcycles are equipped with a refurbished semi-digital instrument cluster. Customers can also select the optional 6.5 inch full- colour TFT display which comes with Bluetooth connectivity.

The powerful 2-cylinder in-line engine with a displacement of 853 cc, which replaces the older 798 cc motor, grabs the attention in the new bikes.

The twin-cylinder engine delivers 77 hp and 83 Nm of torque in the F 750, while the F 850’s powerhouse produces 85hp and 92Nm of torque. The engine has a 270-degree firing order for a sweeter exhaust note.

The mid-displacement adventure tourers sport a new monocoque frame and revised suspension geometry. The F 750 is a more road-focused offering while the F 850 has been equipped with wire-spoke wheels and off-road rubber.

The Standard variant of both the motorcycles offers features such as a slipper clutch, ASC (Automatic Stability Control), dual-channel ABS, LED headlight, cruise control and DRLs. In addition to that, the Pro variants includes DTC (dynamic traction control), Dynamic ESA (semi-active suspension system), gearshift assist (quickshifter), cornering ABS and a luggage rack. Standard saddle height of the F 750 GS and the F 850 GS is 815mm and 860mm respectively.

The bikes will be available as Completely Built-up Units (CBU) and can be booked at BMW Motorrad India dealerships from today onwards.

The BMW F 750 GS and BMW F 850 GS are set to compete against the Triumph Tiger 800 range, Honda Africa Twin and the Ducati Multistrada 950 in the Indian markets.
