USE SMALL BOTTLES FOR TOILETRIES
use small leakproof and see through bottles to keep your body washes, shampoos etc. Toiletries usually come in large bottles which are difficult to carry, carrying smaller ones lest you use your daily products without taking much space.
KEEP EXTRA PLASTIC BAGS IN HANDY
You can use these for almost everything. You can keep dirty shoes in them or unwashed undergarments or wet clothes. They require almost no space and later come to a lot of various emergency rescues. Ziplock or other airtight plastic bags are the best.
ROLL YOUR CLOTHES
You can always roll your clothes while putting them in the bag. Somehow it seems that bags will hold more if the clothes are rolled rather than folded. If you roll in tissue paper, the clothes will also get less wrinkled.

SMARTLY PLACE YOUR SHOES
Take an old or used shower cap and put your shoes in them. The shoes won’t dirty the other clothes that way. Now keep the shoes at the bottom, your bag would get more spacious.

Always make a checklist beforehand of all the things you need to carry. Review it and cross the things you don’t really need. This would ensure that you carry exactly what you need, nothing less, nothing more. You would also get the time to buy something you need to and would save the last minute freaking out.
