Residential areas still submerged due to floods

Chennai: A fresh spell of rain flooded most of the city and large parts of Tamil Nadu, leaving the residential areas still inundated as several areas of the city remained waterlogged.

The rain water even entered a government hospital forcing the staff to evacuate the patients out of their wards.

According to government’s statistics, the floods have inflicted damages amounting to Rs. 8,481 crore across the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had released the financial assistance of nearly Rs. 940 crore to deal with the flood situation in rain- battered Tamil Nadu.

The Centre has also sent a team to Tamil Nadu to assess the damage and action is being taken by the team to take adequate measures to tackle flood.
