Mumbai: Actor Amitabh Bachchan has received another email threatening bomb blasts at his Mumbai residence, police said on Friday. However, searches conducted at his bungalow, Jalsa, did not reveal anything suspicious.
According to the police, the email was also marked to the Bombay High Court and Mahalaxmi Racecourse. Searches at both locations also yielded no suspicious findings.
Officials have launched an investigation to verify the authenticity of the message, trace its origin and identify the sender.
Bachchan had earlier received a threat email on October 23. The message, which was also marked to Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde and Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi, warned of a grenade attack on a school on October 31 and threatened to target Bachchan’s Juhu residence between October 31 and November 27.
The email, which made references to ‘Khalistan’, also claimed that an attack would take place during singer Diljit Dosanjh’s November 27 concert in the Mahalaxmi Racecourse area.
Following the threat, the 84-year-old actor greeted his fans outside his residence from behind bulletproof glass.
During his customary Sunday interaction with fans gathered outside his bungalow, Bachchan was seen waving at them while standing behind a transparent bulletproof shell installed on an elevated platform. His son and actor Abhishek Bachchan, along with several security personnel, were also present around him during the appearance.
