Nalco Guru Kelucharan Award to artistes

Bhubaneswar, Aug 31 (PTI) Eminent dance guru KishoreKumar Mohanty and noted Odia cine actress Jharana Das would behonoured with the prestigious Nalco Guru Kelucharan Award for2016 for their outstanding contribution. The annual award, instituted by Srjan in memory of therevered Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, carries a cash prize of Rsone lakh and a citation. The ‘Nalco Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Yuva PratibhaSamman 2016’ would be presented to Rajib Bhattacharya ofKolkata and Madhusmita Mohanty of Bhubaneswar for Odissidance, P Praveen Kumar of Bengaluru for Bharatanatyam andRupak Kumar Parida of Bhubaneswar for Odissi music. The award comprises a cash prize of Rs 25,000 each tofour meritorious young artistes in the area of classicaldances and Odissi music for outstanding continuousperformance, said Srjan Director Ratikant Mohapatra. A new award ‘Nrutya Kala Samman’ has been institutedthis year to give recognition to long and devoted commitmentto the practice and performance of traditional Odissi dancewith a cash prize of Rs 30000. The award will be conferred onMadhubrata Satapathy. The awards will be presented during the five-day GuruKelucharan Mohapatra festival to be held here betweenSeptember five to September nine. Renowned artistes frominside and outside the state will perform during the festival.PTI SKN KKKK
