At least four people were killed and 15 others injured in multiple shootings across Dallas’ Deep Ellum entertainment district on Halloween night.
According to the sources quoted by reports, police said, the gunfire erupted at three different locations at separate times, with investigators working to establish whether the incidents were connected.
Dallas Police Chief Daniel C. Comeaux confirmed the casualties during a press conference on Sunday, November 1, adding that the number of injured could rise as some victims were transported to hospitals in private vehicles.
The shootings were reported around 12:20 am on Elm Street, 1:05 am on Main Street and 1:35 am on South Crowdus Street.
Police have detained several individuals for questioning while detectives investigate their possible involvement. Describing the incident as chaotic, Comeaux said, “This is completely unacceptable for it to take place in Dallas and we’re going to do everything we need to do to get everyone in custody that is responsible for this.”
Authorities said additional officers had already been deployed in the area due to Halloween celebrations.
The investigation is ongoing as police work to piece together what happened.
