In India, majority community is asking for anti-conversion laws: Rajnath Singh

Date:

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday voiced his concern over the matter of mass conversion in India.

“If someone accepts a religion on their own there shouldn’t be objections but mass conversion is a matter of concern for any country. If you’re Hindu be Hindu, Muslim be Muslim, Christian be Christian. Why do you want to convert the whole world?” he said while speaking at a function organised by a Christian body.

“In Britain and America, minority community demands anti-conversion laws, but here the majority community asks for it, it’s a matter of concern,” the minister added.

“Whether we win or lose… we will not discriminate among people,” Rajnath said talking about the upcoming elections. ” I have never discriminated on the basis of caste, creed and religion in my life. Whether or not we get votes. Whether or not we form the government, whether we win or lose. But we will never discriminate among people. This is what our prime minister feels. ”

“Recently, stones were pelted at the churches. Some priests came and met me to demand security. I assured them all that those behind it will be punished. I also assured security to them. But it (stone pelting) started a month before the assembly elections and stopped a month after that. What would you say on that? Whose conspiracy is that, ” he said.

Rajnath Singh was speaking at the ‘Festival of Peace’ organised by the ‘Rashtreeya Isai Mahasangh’ in New Delhi. “India is the land of peace where all the religious communities have been living together in peace and harmony for centuries” he wrote on Twitter.
