Trump Confirms US Strike On Iran’s Anti-Aircraft Facility On Qeshm Island

Date:

United States: The United States has carried out a military operation against an Iranian defence installation on Qeshm Island, with US President Donald Trump confirming the strike during an interview with Fox News on Tuesday.

He described the action as a “minor attack”.

Explaining the timing of the operation, Trump said, “They built an anti-aircraft facility… As soon as it was completed, we hit it last night very nicely,”

The development comes amid reports of American forces conducting a restricted military operation on the island.

US officials said the operation was intended to protect commercial shipping from potential Iranian attacks in the Strait of Hormuz. The important maritime passage has faced a major disruption, with traffic largely halted since the conflict broke out in late February.

Details from the island also emerged through Iranian state media. IRNA reported that residents heard five consecutive explosions and that some people spotted two aircraft overhead.

Trump also spoke about US financial support for Israel, saying he had reached an understanding with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to end American funding for the country after December 2026.
