In his message, Shami wrote, “Safed jersey se vida le raha hoon, lekin usse judi yaadon se kabhi nahi… 🇮🇳❤️ Jab pehli baar Bharat ki Test jersey pehni thi, tab sirf ek sapna tha — apne desh ke liye kuch kar dikhane ka.. Uske baad har wicket, har sangharsh, har chot aur har comeback ne mujhe kuch na kuch sikhaya,”
He further described Test cricket as an important part of his life and thanked everyone who supported him throughout his career.
Shami also expressed gratitude to his teammates, coaches, family and millions of Indian supporters who stood by him during both successful and difficult periods.
He acknowledged the contributions of the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the Cricket Association of Bengal, thanking both organisations for trusting his abilities and providing opportunities throughout his cricketing journey.
