On Saturday, PM Modi will be the first passenger to ride on the new Kochi Metro to inaugurate it. However, a controversy has come up as E. Sreedharan is not among the VIP guests who will be seated with the Prime Minister on a stage.

The construction of the Kochi Metro began in 2012 and was tasked to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation whose top advisor is E. Sreedharan is also known as India’s ‘Metro Man’. The Kerala Government has written to the Prime Minister’s office to revise the seating plan to include E. Sreedharan amongst the others sitting with the PM.

According to reports, E. Sreedharan said that, ‘nothing was unusual about the decision and that he had accepted it’. “This shows the arrogance of the BJP,” alleged Mr Thomas, the legislator from Kochi who was allegedly edited out of the list sent to Kerala by PM Modi’s office.
