Washington, D.C: For the first time in US history, more than 100 Democratic women are set to serve in the House of Representatives simultaneously, marking a major milestone in women’s political representation.
The achievement follows a series of victories by Democratic women in competitive constituencies across the country, including districts previously held by Republicans.
Their wins have contributed to the party’s gains in the House and increased the number of women among its lawmakers.
The growing representation reflects a significant change in the composition of the Democratic caucus. Over the years, the proportion of women in the group has risen from less than five per cent to nearly 40 per cent.
The newly elected lawmakers are expected to focus on issues affecting Americans and work towards policies addressing their everyday concerns.
The milestone highlights the increasing presence of women in US legislative politics and marks a historic moment for Democratic representation in the House.
