Tasmanian whisky named worlds best single malt

Date:

Melbourne: Tasmanian distillery Sullivan’s Cove’s French Oak Cask variety has been dubbed the world’s best single malt whisky. A panel of experts at the World Whiskies Award held in London decided the winner.

The alcohol was judged the global winner from a high-quality pool of single malt entries, including Scotland’s Bunnahabain, Aberfeldy, Glenkinchie and Glenlivet distilleries and Japan’s Yamazaki.

According to judges, French Oak Cask entry was “light, peppery and intriguing”, asserting that it was a match made in heaven with a smooth buttery feel, adding keeping it simple in a very good way.
