Washington: All versions of Windows will merge into one operating system for all devices, announced Microsoft’s CEO announced.
CEO Satya Nadella said the company will streamline the next version of Windows from three operating systems into one single converged operating system for screens of all sizes. They will unify the stores, commerce and developer platforms to drive a more coherent user experience and a broader developer opportunity. Nadella expanded on this theme when responding to an analyst’s question.
One of the beauties of universal Windows app is, it aggregates for the first time for us all of our Windows volume, which is 300 plus million units.
Microsoft talked about this before. Back in April, the company had discussed allowing developers to build universal apps that will work across Windows Phone, Windows, and Xbox devices.
But Nadella stated in no uncertain terms that the merger of operating systems is going forward.
