Khanna, driver taken to Raigad

DAY 5, SATURDAY
U-Turn
Indrani’s ex-husband, Sanjeev Khanna, has now claimed that he was not in the car when Indrani murdered Sheena Bora.
Sanjeev, in his statement to police, said Indrani was in touch with him and he came to Mumbai on April 24, only after getting a call from Indrani. According to Khanna, he stopped Indrani from killing Mikhail.
Sanjeev Khanna: “I am involved only in disposing off the body. I got involved because Indrani told me that if Sheena would have got married to Rahul, Vidhie’s life would have been ruined as there will be more people who will claim property share.”
Meanwhile, Indrani is still not ready to accept her role in the murder. She told police that she did called Sheena and met her over a cup of coffee for an hour. Then next day Sheena left for US.
When confronted that Sheena’s passport was with Rahul, Indrani said Bora made another passport. According to Indrani, Mikhail or Rahul must have killed Sheena.
Cops find the car in which Sheena was murdered
According to latest reports, police have traced the car in which Sheena Bora was murdered. The reports also say this car was sold to a dealer at a cheap price.
Earlier in the day, a team of Mumbai police, probing the mysterious Sheena Bora murder, with the help of a village official in Pen tehsil of Raigad district, located the spot where Sheena was allegedly buried in 2012.
A team of police, forensic experts and villagers had yesterday exhumed skeletal remains after Dhene, a Police Patil, identified the exact spot where Sheena’s body was allegedly dumped in the forests there three years ago.
Raigad SP tells their side of the story
Suvez Haque, the current Raigad Superintendent of Police, held a press conference where he gave information about the police action after they had found a semi-burnt body in the area in 2012.

Probe ordered against Raigad SP Shinde
Another shocking revelation has surfaced in the Sheena Bora murder mystery.
According to reports, the then Raigad SP R D Shinde allegedly stopped the identification process of Sheena’s body in 2012.
A probe has now been ordered against R D Shinde.
All three sccused at Khar Police Station
All the three accused arrested in the Sheena Bora murder case – Indrani Mukerjea, her driver Shyam Rai and her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna – have been brought to Khar police station.
Reports say they could be taken to Pen village in Raigad where Sheena’s body was disposed off after the murder.
Maharashtra DGP orders probe against local police’s inaction
Maharashtra DGP Sanjeev Dayal on Saturday ordered a probe for inaction against the local police after Sheena Bora’s skeletal remains were recovered in Pen, Raigad.
Raigad’s SP Mohammad Suez Haque is probing into the matter and is expected to submit the report to DGP Dayal soon.
Indrani taken to Santacruz PS
Indrani Mukerjea on Saturday was taken to Santacruz police station. She was in Khar police station since the time of the arrest on Tuesday.
She was questioned several times since the arrest by Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria himself.
Meanwhile, Indrani’s ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna has been taken to Khar police station a few moments back.
Focus now on forensic report of remains found
The focus in the high-profile Sheena Bora murder case has now shifted to the forensic analysis of the remains found in Raigad district where her body was allegedly dumped three years ago.
“We have sent the bones and other skeletal remains for forensic analysis and are awaiting report,” a police official said.
JJ Hospital had on Friday handed over to Khar police a few bones it had received from Raigad Police in 2012.
Police are also probing Mikhail Bora’s claim that just hours before Indrani and Sanjeev Khanna met Sheena Bora on April 24, 2012 and took her for what would be the last drive of her life, Indrani had also allegedly drugged her son, Mikhail.
Mikhail has claimed that on the pretext of discussing a property deal, he was given a spiked drink in his hotel room in Worli by Indrani and Sanjeev, who then left to meet and murder Sheena.
By the time they came back, the suspicious, groggy Mikhail had fled.
On Friday, police refused to accept a written statement from Peter Mukerjea, and he was told that when the police required, he would be called to answer their queries.
Mikhail was in Mumbai when Sheena was killed
As sordid details emerge at a furious pace in the probe into Sheena Bora’s murder case, her younger brother Mikhael Bora has, in a startling revelation, told the police that he was present in Mumbai on the day his sister was killed.
Bora, 24, had earlier said that he knew the “exact reason” of the crime and had promised to tell all on August 31 if his mother Indrani Mukerjea failed to confess to the cops.

Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria is interrogating both Sanjeev Khanna and Mikhail Bora in connection with the April 2012 Sheena Bora murder case at the city’s Police station.
Mumbai Police is seeking Khanna’s custody for the maximum available period and plans to take him to the spot where the murder took place in April 2012.
Police have recovered two visas one from Norway the other from Ireland from Khanna. They also want to confront him with the other accused involved in murder case.
Indrani uncooperative during interrogation
Media reports said Indrani Mukerjea, the main accused in the #SheenaBora murder case, has been uncooperative during interrogation.
The police are currently questioning Indrani, her driver Shyam Rai and her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna separately.

Mumbai Police confirms identifying Sheena’s DNA sample
The Mumbai Police on Friday said it has identified the DNA sample of Sheena Bora, as sent to it by the Raigad police.
As per sources, the sample will now be matched with the DNA samples of accused Indrani Mukherjea and her first husband.
Meanwhile, a Bandra court has allowed Indrani’s lawyer to meet her during investigation. However, the application over giving her home food and fresh clothes is still undecided.
DAY 3, THURSDAY
Was Sheena Bora Pregnant?
Cases get murkier, but this much murky was not expected in #SheenaMurderMystery. Going deep into the investigation, it has been reported that when the 22-year-old was murdered, she was allegedly pregnant.
Yes, you read that right.
According to sources, Sheena was a few months pregnant with the baby of a man who is said to be close to Indrani.
Sources also said that Sheena was holidaying in Thailand with this ‘very special’ man and spent some intimate times with him. Indrani came to know about her secret Thailand trip, when she discovered Thailand flight boarding pass in Sheena’s book.

Mikhail reveals shocking facts
Mikhail Bora, who was taken to Dispur Police Station, Guwahati, in the afternoon, handed over to the police some shocking details.
Mikhail submitted a birth certificate which reveals Sheena Bora’s date of birth as Feb 11, 1989. But what shocked the police was their father’s and mother’s name.
According to the certificate, Sheena’s grandfather Upendra Kumar Bora was named her father and Durga Rani Bora, who is actually Sheena’s grandmother, has been listed as her mother in the certificate.
It was also brought into light that the certificate bored registration year as April 2002, the same year Indrani got married to Peter.
Peter Mukerjea challenged
Rahul’s grandmother, on Thursday revealed that Peter was aware of everything and also the fact that Sheena was Indrani’s daughter.
She also added that Peter was lying.
Driver Shyam Rai speaks up
Driver Shyam Rai, during his interrogation, said that he along with Indrani and Sanjeev, was involved in the murder of Sheena Bora.
“Indrani booked a hotel room and called Sanjeev. Then he and Sanjeev picked up Sheena. In the car, Indrani strangulated Sheena,” Rai said.
“The body was then put in a bag and set on fire. The next day, Sanjeev left for Mumbai,” he added.
I was asleep: Sanjeev Khanna
Sanjeev Khanna, who allegedly helped Indrani and Shyam in Sheena’s murder case, in his statement, claimed that he had no knowledge of the crime and that he fell asleep in Indrani car.
Khanna also claimed he was with Indrani in the back seat of the car and he had fallen asleep. When he woke up, Sheena’s body was allegedly next to him in the car.
“I fell asleep in the car. When I woke up, I saw Sheena’s body next to me.”
Mikhail to be brought to Mumbai
Mikhail Bora, who is Indrani Mukerjea’s son, will be brought to Mumbai for further interrogation.
Mikhail was earlier brought to Dispur police station, Guwahati to record a statement after being questioned for an hour by Mumbai police.
Mikhail earlier refused to go to Mumbai.
Sanjeev Khanna appeals for bail
Sanjeev Khanna’s lawyer said that his client was in Mumbai on April 24, 2012 (the day Sheena Bora was killed) and left the city the next day. He was unaware of the murder.
Meanwhile, Sanjeev Khanna has appealed for bail.
Mumbai police gets transit remand of Sanjeev Khanna till September 1. Earlier, the court had put a stay on the transit remand sought by Mumbai police.
Rahul Quizzed
Television reports suggest that during the questioning, Mumbai police had put 14 questions to Rahul Mukerjea.
According to reports, these are some of the questions and this is how Rahul responded.
Police: Since when have you known Sheena Bora?
Rahul: I was introduced to her during a party.
Police: You and Sheena were in a relationship for six years and even lived together in a flat in Bandra?
Rahul: That is true.
Police: Were you not concerned about Sheena’s disappearance?
Rahul: (Remains quiet, then says) No, I was not too worried because suddenly at the time we were unable to get in touch with her.
Police: Was Indrani Mukerjea against your relationship with Sheena?
Rahul: Yes, she was not at all in favour of us meeting each other.

Mikhail speaks out
“There is a property issue. Maybe I am target to get this house. By killing me, grandparents they will get it,” Mikhail said from Guwahati.
He also said he has some evidence – the conversation between Peter and Sheena. “I have evidence- it is conversation between Peter M and Sheena, I have photographs too, including Rahul. Have some photographs as evidence of how relationship was btwn these guys. If police comes today I’ll give evidence right away.”
On being asked whether he was feeling threatened, Mikhail said, “The next target for them is me. So, Yes I am.”
“This is the first time I have heard his (Sanjeev Khanna) name through the media,” he added.
Sanjeev Khanna’s involvement being probed
Mumbai police on Thursday showed Sanjeev Khanna, ex-husband of Indrani Mukerjea, a detailed bill of his mobile phone. The bill had details of his conversations with Indrani Mukerjea in April 2012, around the time Sheena Bora was killed.
Reports say that Sanjeev was silent when asked about these phone calls.

Reports revealed that during questioning, Khanna allegedly told Mumbai police that he wanted Indrani Mukerjea and his daughter Vidhie back in his life.
It was also said that Rahul Mukerjea and Sheena Bora were allegedly living together in a flat in Khar, Mumbai. Police questioned Rahul and Peter Mukerjea on Wednesday.
However, Rahul has been questioned again on Thursday and Peter is also likely to be questioned again. During interrogation, Rahul said he met Sheena on the day of her murder. He also said that she left soon after her mother Indrani called her.
Rahul added that Sheena went to meet Indrani who was with her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and their driver. However, he said that he tried speaking to Sheena and tried calling on her number several times, but couldn’t get through her phone. He also said that he had filed the missing person’s complaint about Sheena but it was ignored
Meanwhile, Mumbai police took Rahul to the flat to verify the location which is part of the investigation.
Police claimed that Sheena was last seen alive in a car with Indrani Mukerjea, her driver Shyam Rai, and her former husband Sanjeev Khanna.
Motives for the alleged killing
Police said it has narrowed down two possible motives for the alleged killing by Indrani Mukerjea.
The first being, Indrani was upset that Sheena, 22, was dating Rahul, Peter’s son from an earlier marriage.
Peter had on Wednesday said that while his wife (Indrani) and he were not happy with their children dating, they “were grown-ups and exercised their options.”
The other possible motive they have drawn up is a financial tangle that involved INX Media, of which Indrani was the CEO.
Peter Mukherjea likely to be questioned today
Mumbai: Former Star TV CEO Peter Mukherjea, husband of the accused Indrani Mukherjea, is likely to be questioned by the police today in connection with Sheena Bora murder case.
The police had questioned Peter Mukherjea‘s son Rahul Mukherjea on Wednesday night.
Indrani Mukherjee’s first husband Sanjeev Khanna was earlier on Wednesday arrested by the Mumbai Police in connection with the case.
In a major twist to the Sheena Bora murder case, it was revealed that the deceased, who was allegedly murdered by Indrani, was her daughter and not her sister.
Indrani, 43, was arrested on Tuesday from her Mumbai residence after her driver confessed that he had killed Sheena in 2012 following his employer’s orders.
Indrani, who was charged of murdering her daughter and disposing off her body, will stay in police custody till August 31.
DAY 2, WEDNESDAY
Police detain Sanjeev Khanna in Kolkata
Indrani Mukerjea’s ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna has been detained in connection with the murder case of Sheena Bora.
Reports said Sanjeev was questioned in Kolkata by the Mumbai police and that he allegedly help Indrani in killing her daughter.
A police team is also at the residence of Indrani’s current husband Peter Mukerjea in Mumbai.
Who is Sheena Bora
Sheena Bora was born and brought up in Guwahati. Her friends recalled her as a peppy girl, and said that no one would have had any reason to murder her.
Sheena had completed her schooling in Guwahati, but had moved to Bombay for her higher studies. After completing her St Xavier’s stint, she got a job with Reliance in Mumbai as an HR manager, and had last come to Guwahati for her friend’s wedding.
Sheena’s last Facebook post was in December 2011 and she was not seen since.
Rahul and Sheena were in a relationship: Peter Mukerjea
Peter Mukerjea, meanwhile, has sought to distance himself from the murder. He said that he had been introduced to the two by Indrani as her siblings and not her children.
He said that he had been told that Sheena had gone to the US to study. “Indrani always told me I shouldn’t engage with her family. Nobody from her side came for our wedding.”
“Indrani told me Sheena is in the US and showed me Facebook pictures. So, I had no reason to doubt my wife. I am only hearing now that Sheena is her daughter and she also has a son. I am really finding it hard to process this. I am really shocked to hear this. I have not experienced anything like this before,” he added.
Meanwhile, a media report quoted Peter Mukerjea as saying that Rahul, his son from his previous marriage, and Sheena were in a relationship. He said that Sheena was sent off to the US because Indrani did not approve of the relationship.
Peter Mukerjea had met Sheena Bora a few times, and Sheena had also maintained that she was Indrani Mukerjea’s sister. Also, Mikhail Bora was introduced to Peter as Indrani’s brother.
DAY 1, TUESDAY
The Murder Mystery
Sheena was murdered in 2012 and her body was dumped in the forests of Raigad, 84 km from Mumbai. Indrani Mukerjea allegedly helped dispose of the body.
The case came to light when a man named Shyam Rai (Indrani’s driver) was picked up in a case involving an unidentified pistol. During interrogation, police said, he talked about a charred body buried in Pen taluka.
“It was during his interrogation that he revealed his involvement in a 2012 murder (Sheena Bora’s) case,” said a senior official.
It is also alleged that Shyam Rai helped Indrani killed her daughter.
The murder would have remained a mystery had the police not been tipped off that Shyam Rai had been seen frequenting the place in Raigad from where Sheena’s body was found.
While the case remained an Accident Death Report (ADR) until date, Rai’s interrogation led the Mumbai Police to a spot near Pen taluka early this week.
The Mumbai police spokesperson, DCP (detention) Dhananjay Kulkarni, said Indrani had been arrested along with her driver by Khar police.
“The two have been arrested and charged under sections 302 (murder), 201 (disposing evidence or giving false statements), 363 (kidnapping) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC. We are still talking to her,” Kulkarni was quoted as saying by a leading daily.
