Japan July-Sept GDP shrinks 0.2%, second straight quarterly fall: govt

The Japanese economy shrank 0.2 percent in the July-September period, the government said Monday, slipping into recession for the second time since Prime Minister Shinzo Abe came to power nearly three years ago.

The figure was marginally weaker than the market expectation for a 0.1 percent contraction, according to a Bloomberg News survey, and followed a similar decline in the previous quarter.
