Bravo fires back at ‘dishonest’ West Indies Cricket Board

Date:

Johannesburg: Out-of-favour Dwayne Bravo has joined the chorus of criticism directed against the West Indies Cricket Board for the current plight of the islanders’ standing in international cricket.

The 32-year-old all-rounder said that it was painful to see the current state of the Caribbean cricket and called for a stronger relationship between players, board members and management staff. He claimed that there were a lot of dishonest people who are at the helm, Sport24 reported.

Bravo, who is currently playing in Australia’s Twenty20 Big Bash League, insisted that West Indies have potential players who can compete against the best in the world but attributed the lack of infrastructure ad facilities as primary reason of the Caribbean cricket’s downfall.

Bravo was deposed from his role of captaincy a year ago and was sidelined for the West Indies’ World Cup squad earlier this year. His relationship with the WICB took a hit after his side walked out of their tour of India last year in a row over contracts.

The maverick all-rounder has not been picked in the ODI squad since and subsequently called curtains on his Test career after being sidelined by selectors for a period of time.

Earlier, former stalwarts Brian Lara and Michael Holding slammed the WICB for its bad governance.
