India to participate at Rio 2016 Footvolley World Tournament

Mumbai, Aug 23 (PTI) The Footvolley Association of Indiahas recently announced names of two Maharashtra players,Cajetan Dias and Kundan Chandra, who will be representingIndia at the Rio 2016 Footvolley World Tournament. The tournament will be held from tomorrow till August28 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Rio 2016 Footvolley World Tournament is a demo gameconducted under observation of International Olympic Committee(IOC). The competition will be held in the offficial beachstadium of the Olympic Games of Copacabana Beach, a mediarelease issued here said. Dias and Chandra are both national level footballplayers and have played in the Santosh Trophy, it said. FootVolley uses physical techniques of football andthe play is allowed with everything but the hands and arms –with beach volleyball rules. It is usually played with two players on each side ofthe net and each team has to alternate their passing betweenthe two players. The ball can be touched three times at mostbefore it has to go over the net, the release said. PTI NRBARSAHSDM
