world capitals Islamabad, Aug 27 (PTI) Further needling India on theKashmir issue, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif todaynominated 22 parliamentarians as special envoys to bedespatched to world capitals to highlight the problem. "We will remind the United Nations its long-held promiseof self-determination to the Kashmiri people," Sharif said. Stepping up Pakistan’s diplomatic offensive, the primeminister said he has decided to send the parliamentarians forhighlighting the Kashmir issue in different parts of theWorld. The move by Sharif came against the backdrop ofescalating war of words between India and Pakistan in theaftermath of the continuing unrest in the Kashmir Valley thatbroke out on July 8 after Hizbul commander Burhan Wani waskilled by security forces. "The Prime Minister urged the special envoys to ensuretheir efforts for highlighting the Kashmir cause across theworld so that he can shake the collective conscience of theinternational community during his address at the UN thisSeptember," Radio Pakistan reported. "We will also make it clear to India that it was Indiathat approached the UN several decades back on Kashmir disputebut now it is not fulfilling its promise," he added.
