Lucknow, Sep 2 (PTI) Lakhs of state government employeestoday joined the nationwide strike called by ten trade unionagainst disparities in the pay commission recommendations andnon-redressal of their pending demands. The 24-hour strike received massive support from differentemployees’ unions and federations across the state, leader ofone of the unions claimed. Though some banks functioned normally, work in stategovernment departments was affected. Patients had to face difficulties in hospitals in thestate capital and in the districts as well as nurses struckwork. Postal services were also crippled as employees remainedon strike. Government buses were, however, seen plying in differentparts of the state. The strike was called by trade unions against"government’s apathy" towards their 12-point charter ofdemands including a monthly minimum wage of Rs 18,000,controlling price rise and assured minimum monthly pension ofRs 3,000.
