Cong’s Yusuf indulged in corruption as Waqf Board chief: Khan

New Delhi, Sep 6 (PTI) Delhi Waqf Board chairman and AAPMLA Amantullah Khan has accused Congress leader Haroon Yusufof "corruption and criminal misconduct" seeking an Anti-Corruption Branch enquiry against him. Yusuf served as the Waqf Board chairman from March 1999to March 2004 before he was made Power minister in the SheilaDikshit government in 2005. Khan alleged Waqf Board driver Mohammad Rafiq continued toserve Yusuf even after he became a minister and the Board boreall his expenses, including salary. "By illegal and unlawful taking over of the employee ofDelhi Waqf Board in his personal service, Haroon Yusufconverted a valuable resource of the Waqf Board into his ownpersonal use thereby causing wrongful gain to himself and lossto the Board," Khan said in his complaint to the Delhigovernment’s Vigilance directorate. "Conduct of Haroon Yusuf falls within the definition ofcorruption, criminal misconduct making him liable for actionunder Section 13 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988," hesaid in the complaint. Yusuf rubbished the charges saying had had three driverswith him when he was a minister but he does not remember theirexact details. He said, besides driving, the drivers also performed otherduties such as carrying dispatches to different departments. "I don’t understand the charge by Khan. Personnel fromdifferent departments are normally used by non-parentdepartments in diverted capacity. Even at present two driversof Delhi Waqf Board are working with other departments indiverted capacity," Yusuf said. PTI VIT TIR RGTIR
