Biju Janata Dal supporters hurled eggs on the vehicle of Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram in Odisha’s Kendrapara district on Wednesday.
Oram is a Member of Parliament from Sundergarh parliamentary constituency. The incident took place when the Minister was on his way to Rajkanika to attend the Sabka Saath Sabka Vikaas event, commemorating the completion of Modi government’s three years at the Centre.
The incident led to commotion between BJD and BJP activists, following which police had to resort to mild lathicharge. He is now facing stiff opposition from the ruling BJD, which has been protesting against his visit to various parts of Odisha.
In another incident, Oram was shown black flags by Congress activists in Aul. Congress activists were protesting against the Mandsaur firing incident and the Modi government’s apathy towards the state.

Oram has been the chief of Odisha’s BJP unit for several years. He has been credited with being the force behind the party’s recent victory in the panchayat elections in the state.
On June 10, eggs were hurled at Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh by Odisha Youth Congress activists.
The Congress supporters were protesting against the Agriculture Minister over the deaths of farmers in Madhya Pradesh.
Last month, an egg was thrown at BJD leader Jay Panda allegedly by supporters of his own party MLA Pratap Jena, who was reportedly miffed over not being appointed for a water tank inauguration event.
