Narendra Modi visits Pashupatinath temple

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is on an official visit to neighbouring Nepal visited the famous Pashupatinath temple in the Capital, Kathmandu.

The PM arrived in Kathmandu in an IAF chopper and started off his Kathmandu trip with a visit to the temple. He was greeted by city officials and local leaders. He offered prayers to the deity for which priests had made special arrangements.

He further signed the visitor’s book and was presented a miniature of the Pashupatinath temple by the authorities.

India’s ties with the Pashupatinath temple go back to 2016 following the visit of the then President, Pranab Mukherjee.

Under his aegis, the Government of India assisted in establishing the Nepal-Bharat Maitri Pashupatinath Dharamshala project.

Next the PM is scheduled to meet the Nepali Congress, former Nepal PM, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, former Foreign Affairs Minister, Upendra Yadav and members of the  Rashtriya Janata Party.

He is scheduled to depart to return to India after receiving a civic reception in Kathmandu at Rashtriya Sabha Griha.
