A picture of a dog covered in ashes has surfaced the internet and it is being claimed to be from the recent Taal volcano eruption in the Philippines.

The caption of the Tweet dated January 13th, 2020 read: “I live near Tagaytay area & friend of mine from Manila keep asking me last night to evacuate and go their place. My reaction was “I can’t leave my 4 dogs” PLEASE PEOPLE IF YOU ARE GOING TO EVECUATE BRING YOUR PETS WITH YOU!!! #TaalVolcano #PrayForPhilippines #Taal”

Tagaytay is a city in the Philippines which is close to the site of Taal volcano.

At the time of filing this report, the above tweet was retweeted by close to 4,000 users.

Team of fact-checker at NewsMobile checked the above post and found the picture to be old.

On putting the viral picture of the dog through Reverse Image Search on the Russian search engine Yandex, we found the same picture on a Turkish news agency, Anadolu Agency (AA) website.

According to the caption, the picture is from Indonesia after the eruption of Mount Sinabung at the Gamber Villages, in Karo on May 22nd, 2016.

Hence, the above information confirms that the viral picture of the dog is old and it is NOT from the Philippines.
