BMW India CEO & President Rudratej Singh passes away

The President and CEO of BMW India, Rudratej Singh, passed away earlier on Monday due to cardiac arrest.

This follows and comes as a second major setback to the team of BMW Group, India which lost its sales head Mihir Dayal (40), to cancer a few weeks back.

As per sources in the BMW Group, India, the death has nothing to do with the widely spread COVID-19.

‘Rudy’, as he was fondly called, had joined BMW in August 2019, and was the first Indian President and CEO of BMW in India.

In January 2015, he moved from Hindustan Unilever and joined the two wheeler giant Royal Enfield as its President of flagship motorcycle business, and was also the member of the management. He was later promoted to the Global President in 2017, and was credited for the successful trans-continental debut of the Himalayan and Twins bikes – Interceptor and Continental GT.

“Our prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult period. He will always be remembered as an inspiring and compassionate human being,” BMW said.

“His transformational vision and strategic orientation played a crucial role in navigation of BMW Group India in a challenging business environment. His demise comes at a crucial junction when we were in midst of implementing strategic measures for strengthening the dealer network across India,” the German automaker stated.

Having over 25 years of experience, Rudratej Singh held multiple leadership positions both in the automotive and non-automotive industry.

An alumnus of Delhi University he had started his career in 1996 with Dabur India.
