Cold Wave To Continue In North India, IMD Predicts Light Rainfall In Delhi Today

Parts of North India remain under the grip of an intense cold wave. Delhi’s temperature reached 11.2° Celsius on Monday, as the national capital remained engulfed in a layer of fog in the morning, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The national capital is likely to see light rainfall today, the IMD predicted. The city’s minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to settle around 8° and 17° Celsius.

An IMD official said that due to easterly winds blowing in Delhi, the minimum temperature is likely to rise by a few notches over the next two days.

Cold wave conditions in India

According to the IMD, dense to very dense fog in some pockets are very likely over Uttar Pradesh; in isolated pockets over North Rajasthan, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam and Meghalaya. Dense fog in isolated pockets over Delhi, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Chandigarh, Bihar, Odisha and sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.

Cold conditions in isolated pockets are very likely over Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal. Cold weather conditions are likely to prevail in many places.
