‘No Question Of Roll Back,’ Says NSA Ajit Doval On Agnipath Scheme

Date:

New Delhi: Amid instances of protest over the Agnipath Scheme in several parts of the country, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on Tuesday said that we have to change and be prepared for tomorrow and claimed that the scheme will not be rolled back.

NSA Chief Ajit Doval in a conversation with ANI said that “Security is a dynamic concept. It cannot remain static, it is only in relation to the environment in which we have to protect our national interest and national assets.”

Further talking about the approach behind the Agnipath scheme he said that “it requires a change in systems and structures, it requires a change in technology, it requires a change in manpower, policies and they have to be futuristic,”.

NSA chief said that the world is moving towards “contactless wars” with the help of technology and it is the need of the hour to change with the changing times.

He clarified that the system of regiments will continue to exist. He added that “Nobody is tinkering with the concept of regiments.”

Further clarifying the scheme NSA chief said that Agnipath Scheme is not a standalone scheme. When Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power in 2014, one of his prime priorities was how to make India “secure and strong”. He further added that it required major steps and changes in different avenues.

Talking about the protests and violence he said that “FIRs lodged, accused have been identified, after due probe we can say who were the forces behind it. An investigation must be done thoroughly.”
