New Delhi: Indian javelin thrower and Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra will not take part in the upcoming commonwealth games due to injury. The Commonwealth Games are set to begin on 28th July in Birmingham.
Rajeev Mehta, Secretary General, IOA while talking to newswire agency ANI confirmed that “Neeraj Chopra will not take part in Commonwealth Games 2022. He is not fit as he got injured in the finals of the World Athletic Championship. He informed us about this.”
Neeraj Chopra earlier took part in the World Athletics Championship where he bagged the silver medal performing an exceptional comeback in the finals.
According to reports, Neeraj Chopra went through an MRI scan and doctors have advised him to take one month rest to recover.
Neeraj Chopra has delivered a lot of outstanding performances since he won Gold in Tokyo Olympics 2020.
