New Delhi: Indian batsman KL Rahul clarified his status of health and fitness and put an end to speculations regarding his unavailability from the recent squad announcement for the upcoming tour against Zimbabwe.
KL Rahul took to Twitter and shared a note clarifying “a couple of things” after reports of him missing the upcoming tours. Talking about his recent injury he added that his surgery was successful in the month of June and that he had started training at the National Cricket Academy “with the hope of returning to national duty for the team’s tour of the West Indies.”
However, ahead of the series, KL Rahul tested positive for COVID. He further added that “This naturally pushes things back by a couple of weeks, but I aim to recover as quickly as possible and be available for selection as soon as I can.”
Earlier, BCCI announced the squad for the upcoming tour to Zimbabwe with Shikhar Dhawan leading the team in three ODIs starting on 18th August. Deepak Chahar had made a comeback to the squad after recovering from injury. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah have been rested for the series.
