A Facebook user posted the viral post with a caption: Mr.DK Shivkumar, fully drunk during door to door campaigning and the would be CM candidate of Karnataka, if Congress gets majority in the ensuing Assembly elections.

Running a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes, we identified a tweet from the same video as the viral one. Given that the video was tweeted on January 9, 2022, it is certain that it cannot be related to the upcoming 2023 Karnataka elections. In the same trail, the user also provided a YouTube link to the same video.
The YouTube video titled: DK Shivakumar : ಸುಸ್ತಾಗಿ ತಟ್ಟಾಡಿದ ಡಿಕೆಶಿ | Mekedatu Padayatre | The video, published on January 9, 2022, on the official channel of NewsFirst Kannada, matches the viral clip, and the title informs that DK Shivkumar looks tired on Mekedatu Padayatre — a campaign to seek early implementation of the Mekedatu reservoir, a drinking water project.
Although we could not verify whether Shivkumar was actually drunk or not, it is clear that the video is at least a year old, and thus, cannot be linked to the ongoing campaign of the INC for the 2023 Karnataka elections.
