Yamuna Breaches Danger Mark At 206.31 Metres; Delhi May Witness Another Spell Of Floods

Date:

New Delhi: The Yamuna River in Delhi surpassed the danger mark once again on Sunday due to a significant increase in discharge from the Hathnikund Barrage into the river.

The water level in the National Capital was recorded at 206.31 metres. This surge in water levels has raised concerns about the potential for another round of flooding in the capital city.

Meanwhile, the authorities have made announcements to vacate low-lying areas as Yamuna’s water level crossed the danger mark.

Earlier on Saturday, Delhi revenue minister Atishi informed that the Delhi government is on high alert due to the discharge of over 2 lakh cusecs of water from the Hathnikund barrage into the Yamuna river.

Delhi had earlier witnessed flooding in several areas as the Yamuna water level reached an all-time high of 208 meters. Thousands have been replaced from low-lying areas, and schools and offices were affected for several days.
