In an epic showdown that will set the tone for the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Men’s Cricket World Cup, the finalists from 2019, England and New Zealand, will collide in a riveting battle at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

TEAMS
10 teams will clash over 46 Days in this year’s edition: India, Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, and Sri Lanka.
Notably, the West Indies, with their two-time World Cup triumphs, stand as a surprising omission, failing to secure one of the nine qualification spots.
India enjoys an automatic entry as the host nation, while the other nine countries had to navigate a rigorous three-year qualification process, involving multiple stages and smaller tournaments. Seven teams, including defending champions England, booked their tickets to the World Cup based on their performance in the ICC Super League, a competition that spanned from July 2020 to May 2023.
The Netherlands and Sri Lanka emerged victorious in the knockout qualification stage earlier this year, completing the roster of participating nations.
FORMAT
The initial stage of the ODI tournament adopts a round-robin format, where each team will face every other team once, resulting in a total of 45 exhilarating matches. This phase will culminate on November 12 with a thrilling clash between India and Netherlands in Bengaluru.
The top four teams at the end of the round-robin stage will earn their tickets to the semifinals. The teams ranked first and fourth will engage in the first semifinal on November 15 in Mumbai, while the second and third-ranked teams will battle it out in the second semifinal on November 16 in Kolkata.
