New Delhi: Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s outstanding all-round performance, coupled with Bangladesh’s exceptional teamwork, led to a convincing 6-wicket win against Afghanistan at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on Saturday.
Sakib al-Hasan’s side successfully chased down the 157-run target in just under 35 overs, losing only four wickets in the process. Najmul Hossain Shanto was the top scorer for the Bangladesh team, contributing 57 runs, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz played a crucial role by also scoring 57 runs to secure victory over Afghanistan.
Azmatullah Omarzai, Naveen-ul-Haq, and Fazalhaq Farooqi took a wicket each for their side.
Despite Afghanistan’s promising start, they fell short of converting it into a substantial total, ultimately getting all out for just 156 runs. Rahmanullah Gurbaz was the top scorer for the Afghan team with 47 runs, while Ibrahim Zardan and Azmatullah Omarzai both contributed 22 runs each.
Captain Sakib and player of the match Mehidy Hasan Miraz stood out as the leading wicket-takers, securing three wickets each. Additionally, Shoriful Islam secured two wickets, while Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman each contributed one wicket each.
