Fact Check: Tweet From Parody Account Of New CM Bhajan Lal Sharma Viral With False Claims

Date:

A screenshot of a purported tweet attributed to the new chief minister of Rajasthan, Bhajan Lal Sharma, is doing the rounds on social media. In the tweet, he is praising former CM Ashok Gehlot.

(English translation: In Elections, victory and defeat have their place, but underestimating his contribution as a citizen would be showing ingratitude. If someone has given the courage to a poor man to stand in a private hospital, his name is Ashok Gehlot. Thank You CM @ashokgehlot51.)

Here’s the link to the above post.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post, and found it to be false.

Identifying the Twitter handle in the screenshot, which reads ‘@mlabhajanlal’, our team searched further, and found that it was a parody account of Bhajan Lal Sharma.

To our surprise, we found that the real Twitter handle of Bhajan Lal Sharma was @BhajanlalBjp. On December 12, 2023, Ashol Gehlot had also congratulated Sharma for being appointed as the CM. Responding to the tweet, Bhajan Lal Sharma also thanked Gehlot for the blessing.

Hence, it can be concluded that a tweet from the parody account of the new CM of Rajasthan, Bhajan Lal Sharma, is widely shared with false claims.
