Simultaneously, Atlee made waves in 2023 with the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jawan, which emerged as the biggest hit across all languages. In a dynamic collaboration for 2024, both talents have come together for an engaging action entertainer. Notably, this marks Atlee’s debut as a film producer. Referred to as VD18 during its production phase, recent reports indicate that the film has now been titled Baby John.
According to speculations, Baby John recently secured its teaser’s Censor Certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film’s intriguing title became public knowledge, generating anticipation. It is reported that the teaser for Baby John is slated for release, likely on Saturday, January 27.
Beyond Varun Dhawan, the cast of Baby John includes Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Jackie Shroff. Directed by Kalees, the film is produced by Atlee, Priya Atlee’s A For Apple Studios, Murad Khetani’s Cine1 Studios, and Jyoti Deshpande of Jio Studios. This action-packed venture is a remake of Atlee’s 2016 directorial Theri, featuring Vijay, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Amy Jackson.
Commencing its shooting schedule in August last year in Mumbai, with an extensive stint in Kochi, the film encountered a setback when Varun suffered an injury during the Mumbai schedule. The casting is pivotal, with Varun portraying an intense massy action role for the first time. Additionally, Keerthy Suresh, a familiar face in Hindi-speaking markets, makes her Bollywood debut, while Wamiqa Gabbi, riding high on the success of her 2023 web show “Jubilee” and the web film “Khufiya,” adds further depth to the ensemble.
