Noida Woman Quits Corporate Job, Secures 18th Rank In UPSC exam

Noida: Wardah Khan, a resident of Noida has aced the UPSC Civil Services Exam and secured 18th rank. The results of the exam were announced on Tuesday by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

Khan quit her corporate job to focus completely on the preparation of the exam. Her dedication and hard work have paid off remarkably. In a conversation with the news agency PTI Khan said “Like every other aspirant, when we start our journey we dream of finding our name on the result list. But getting into the top 20 was unimaginable, I had not imagined being there in the top 20. It’s a dreamy feeling right now. Everybody in my family is happy and beaming with pride”.

She added that she has opted for the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) as her first preference, so she would like to further the image of India across global platforms and multilateral institutions and help the Indian diaspora abroad. Khan is a resident of Vivek Vihar in Noida’s Sector 82 and finished her Bachelor’s in Commerce (Honours) from Khalsa College (Delhi University). She is the only child of her parents and currently lives with her mother as her father passed away nine years ago.

Interest in geo-politics ignited Khan’s dream of becoming a civil servant. During her college days, she actively participated in debates and also participated in Model United Nations (MUN) simulations. But it wasn’t until her corporate stint that pushed her to pursue civil services as her dream career. Khan has big dreams and wants to put India on top around the world with Indian Foreign Service as her top choice.

This inspiring story of Khan has inspired others to move on the same path. Her story highlights the importance of hard work. dedication, and perseverance. On tips for other UPSC aspirants, she said that there are a few things that every candidate should keep in mind, firstly she talked about being thorough with basic books of NCERT and Polity. She concluded by saying that before the cycle ends, we need to have a comprehensive curriculum for the mains and options, along with notes. She states that these are the fundamental things to remember before the exam.
