PM Modi Inaugurates 36th National Games In Gujarat

Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates the 36th National Games Narendra Modi Stadium on Thursday.

Prime Minister Modi took part in the “biggest sports festival in the country” and called the opening ceremony “amazing and unique”.

Recalling sports development in the country over the years, he said that “eight years back, Indian athletes participated in less than 100 international events. Now, they participate in over 300 international events.”

He further claimed that the National Games event will act as a “new launching pad for all sportspersons.”

He further highlighted the modern facilities provided at the Sardar Patel Sports Complex and called it a model for the entire country.

PM Modi further added that “I want to give one more mantra to all the players…If you want to win the competition, then you have to learn to live with commitment and continuity.”

The opening ceremony was further attended by Olympic medalist PV Sindhu, Neeraj Chopra, and Ravi Kumar Dahiya along with other dignitaries. Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur was also present at the event.

Gujarat is hosting the National Games for the first time which is all set to begin from September 29 to October 12. The event will be organised in six cities including Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Gandhinagar, and Ahmedabad.
