Coast Guard Dornier aircraft with 3 on board missing

Chennai: A Dornier aircraft of the Indian Coast Guard, which took off from Chennai airport on Monday evening, has gone missing.

The aircraft, with 3 crew members on board, was on a routine sortie off Chennai, when it lost contact with control room at about 2200 hours on Monday night.

“The aircraft took off from Chennai at 5:30 pm on Monday and lost contact at around 10 pm in Tiruchirappalli,” aviation sources said.

Indian Navy and Coast Guard have launched full scale search and rescue operations to look for the aircraft.
