Judges’ phones are being tapped, says Delhi CM

New Delhi: In a shocking statement, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal stated that judges’ phones are being tapped and they are afraid to talk, was disproved by the government at the same platform.

This event was also attended by PM Narendra Modi.

The Delhi Chief Minister, asserting government’s intervention in judges’ selections, said: “I heard that judges’ phones are being tapped and they are afraid to talk. This is wrong and must not be allowed.”

A counter came immediately from Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, saying: “I have been Communication Minister for two years and I completely deny that phones of judges are tapped at all.”

Ravi Shankar Prasad also stated that the responsibility of his government to the freedom of the judiciary is “complete and irrefutable.”

Earlier, The Supreme Court had given an abrupt warning on Friday to the Government, saying delays in the selection of judges approached to “decimate” the judiciary.

Arvind Kejriwal appeared with the reference, and said: “read that the Supreme Court collegium has sent names for judges months ago but the centre hasn’t approved them.”

This points towards rumours and they are not good.
He said: “Rumours says some ministers wanted some judges to be appointed and the government doesn’t approve of some names. Executive interference in appointments affects the independence of the judiciary and it is not good for the country.”
