Monsoon Session: TDP seeks support for no-confidence motion against Centre

Date:

Andhra Pradesh CM and Telugu Desam Party President Chandrababu Naidu, in a significant political move, has sought the support of the opposition parties on a no-confidence motion against the central government in regards with the special status of Andhra Pradesh.

On July 15, CM Chandrababu Naidu wrote letters to non-BJP, non-Congress parties. TDP’s MP Kesineni Srinivas on Tuesday wrote to Lok Sabha Secretary-General to include a no-confidence motion in the council of ministers.

In his letter, Naidu alleged that the UPA led by the Congress had adopted an ‘unscientific process’ to pass the AP Reorganisation Bill putting a severe financial burden on the state government.

According to the reports, The TDP had earlier made six-subgroups of the party leaders, who would meet and handover Chandrababu Naidu’s letter and a booklet explaining the injustice done to the state and seek support.

TDP pulled out from BJP led NDA alliance in March this year alleging that the Centre had not fulfilled promises made during bifurcation. Five Lok Sabha MPs of the YSRCP had submitted their resignations on April 6, the last day of the budget session. The resignation was accepted by the speaker with effects from 20 June.
