Here is how the world celebrated Diwali

The festive spirit of Diwali was celebrated not only in India but also countries abroad, with many world leaders sharing the delight of the festival.

On the auspicious festival, Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu sent a heartwarming wish to the country as well as his dear friend PM Narendra Modi. Both the leaders exchanged Diwali greetings in Hebrew and Hindi.

Two of the most prominent skyscrapers in the world – the Empire State Building in New York and the Burj Khalifa in Dubai were lit up in special colours.

The United Nations postal agency released a special stamp sheet to commemorate the festival and show solidarity towards India. Secretary-General of the UN, António Guterres also tweeted wishing everyone on Diwali.

UAE Vice President, HH Sheikh Mohammed also tweeted wishing the country as well as his dear friend PM Modi.

Theresa May on tweeter: “I wish all Hindus celebrating Diwali and Sikhs marking Bandi Chhor Divas a joyful time of sharing with friends and families.”

PM Modi was seen celebrating this Diwali with the Jawans of Indian Army and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) at Harsil village near the India-China border.
