Doing a Reverse Image Search we identified a news report, published by Mumbai Live three years ago, carrying the same viral image with a headline: “Some land acquisition still pending for the new Mumbai-Nagpur road project”. This clearly shows that the image has been on Internet prior to the construction of the stretch, which is scheduled to open on December 11.
We found the same image on Shutterstock with a caption: “Aerial view highway junction, crossroads, interchange and expressway is an important infrastructure in Thailand.”
On Shutterstock, we also discovered a time-lapse video from a birds-eye perspective that showed the motion of vehicles from a different perspective. The caption reads: “Time-lapse aerial view above of circus road traffic cars in Bangkok Thailand.” Thus, it is evident that the image used in the viral post is actually from Thailand and not Maharashtra.
We also searched for original videos of the recently constructed Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway and found numerous news articles like ABP Majha and BBC Marathi.
Thus, it is clear that the viral image is from Thailand and not the newly built Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Mahamarg.
